🔻Tehran-IRNA- A British media outlet assessed global trade, especially exports from Mexico, China, Canada, the European Union, Vietnam, Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea, as victims of the US President’s tariffs.
➖According to IRNA on Tuesday, the British newspaper The Guardian detailed the countries targeted by US President Donald Trump’s tariffs in a report and wrote: Trump has worried world leaders by imposing new tariffs.
🔹 Stating that Trump initially targeted Canada and Mexico but postponed the imposition of new tariffs for a month, the Western media outlet wrote: The US president then targeted Chinese goods with an additional 10 percent tariff and threatened the European Union with new tariffs.
The Guardian added: Mexico, China, and Canada are the largest exporters of goods to the US, while China and Mexico have the largest trade surplus with the United States.
🔹The Guardian assessed the automotive, machinery, electronics, and energy industries as being more affected by Trump’s tariffs than other sectors, writing: “The UK has so far been spared Trump’s tariff threats because it has a balanced trade relationship with the US.”
🔹This British media outlet assessed the European Union, Vietnam, Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea as other important US trading partners that may be affected by Trump’s tariff policies.
🔹The newspaper declared Vietnam, along with Ireland, Germany, and Taiwan, a gateway for Chinese goods to the US, and wrote: “Chinese companies are using these countries to export goods to the US to evade Trump’s tariffs.”
🔹Referring to the economic interdependence of different countries in terms of supply chains, the Guardian wrote: “Global supply chains cause the impact of Trump’s tariffs to extend beyond the target countries and affect the economies of other countries as well.”
🔹This Western media outlet added: “Trump’s tariff policies may destabilize global trade and complicate economic relations between countries.”
🔹According to IRNA, Trump signed an executive order on Monday imposing 25% tariffs on all steel and aluminum imports to the United States.
🔹European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said today that the US tariffs on steel and aluminum will not go unanswered.
🔹Von der Leyen said: Unjustified tariffs on the European Union will not go unanswered and will result in strong and proportionate countermeasures.
🔹German Chancellor Olaf Schulz also said in the country’s parliament: If the US leaves us no other choice, the European Union will respond unitedly.
Yesterday, the French President and Foreign Minister reacted to the consequences of imposing a 25% tariff on aluminum and steel imports to the United States.
🔹French President Emmanuel Macron, in response to the question of whether he intends to confront Trump on the issue of tariffs, said: I have done it before and I will do it again.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot also said that France and its European partners should not hesitate to defend their interests against US tariff threats.
